MEN’S PHYSIQUE OF THE WEEK #40: Steven Tran

INSTAGRAM NAME

@stevenh.tran

WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?

I am from and live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States of America.

WHEN DID YOU START COMPETING AND WHAT MOTIVATED YOU?

I began competing in 2015. As soon as I stepped on the stage I fell in love with it. The lights and the crowd looking at just you after all the weeks of hard work in training and dieting. My goal is to become an IFBB Pro some day so that’s what keeps me going and keeps me motivated. The entire contest prep process is also what motivates me. It takes months and weeks to achieve a presentable and “shredded” physique to step on stage. The daily and weekly progress and results on contest prep keeps me going. This sport has taught me self-discipline, not just with competing, but in life as well.

THE NUMBER OF SHOWS:

I have competed in 8 shows.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST PLACING AND WHERE WAS IT?

Best placing was back to back to back first place class wins at the 2016 NPC Powerhouse Classic, 2016 NPC Grand Rapids Championships and 2017 NPC Grand Rapids Championships where I won the overall title as Mr. Grand Rapids for Men’s Physique.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETE?

My favourite athlete is Jeremy Buendia.

If I could go back, I would have told myself to start competing at an earlier age and to choose coaches and trainers wisely. Do the research first and don’t just hop on with someone.
